This is a unique opportunity to practice covering a saddle horn under the instruction of Matt Wanner. Students will independently cover a saddle horn utilizing trees & materials provided by Burns Saddlery. Matt will guide students through the process and give advice, suggestions and helpful hints along the way. Learning with an immersive course is a valuable part of learning heritage skills such as saddlemaking and can advance your skill level many times over!

Saddle trees and all materials will be provided by Burns Saddlery for practice only; students will not take their work home.

Students should bring:

  • Stabbing Awl

  • Hook Awl or Needles

  • French Edger

  • Skive Knives

  • Notebook and Pencil

Matt will have extra tools on hand to share if needed.
