A bell knife skiver is a really simple and useful machine, but it won’t work well if even one part is misaligned. In this class, you’ll learn how to control the machine properly and apply effective skiving techniques.

We’ll start with setting up the machine—adjusting the bell knife, feed roll, and sharpening stone, and understanding how they interact. We’ll then explore the presser foot—how to choose one, how to achieve different edge skives, and how to make a custom presser foot. Finally, we’ll go through adjustments for skiving and splitting both thin and thick leather.
