This class includes a knife made by S.R. Teaschner and all materials needed to build your own cross draw sheath. Each student kit comes with precut leather pieces ready for assembly. Tools will be provided, and the sheath will be hand stitched.

The class begins with a demonstration of how Scott builds a custom sheath from start to finish, covering design fundamentals and how the welt gives the sheath its structure. While students will be making a plain sheath, Scott will also discuss how he determines borders for tooled or stamped designs. His demonstration continues until he reaches the same stage as the precut student kits—then it’s hands-on learning.

Students will be guided through forming a friction-fit sheath, learning how Scott miters the belt loop into the body of the sheath for a seamless blend. Instruction also includes edge burnishing for a professional finish, as well as oiling and final touches.

This class emphasizes professionalism in leatherwork and the importance of creating a clean, finished project. The skills taught will elevate students’ craftsmanship, giving them the knowledge and confidence to tackle more complex builds and apply these techniques to future projects.
